Traffic accident cases are down for most lawyers. That is because fewer people are driving during the pandemic. However, Labor Day could change that.
Here is a shocking piece of information. Labor Day is traditionally one of the most dangerous times to be on GA roads. Add to this that some of our neighbors have not driven a car for 4 months. Seriously, I heard of a senior couple that has not been out of their house since April. They are planning a trip this Labor Day, and they are driving.
Also, watch the alcohol. This is true every day but especially with so many of us locked inside for so long. Here is a statistic that might get your attention: every day, more than 28 people in the United States die from alcohol-related crashes. That is every day. Please, don’t drink and drive. I have seen too many cases where this lethal combination brings tragedy to a CSRA family.
Texting and driving are also on the increase with disastrous results. Not surprisingly, this increase is especially high among teens and early 20’s drivers. Older drivers are not off the hook. Accidents involving eating and driving are also on the increase.
So here is my professional advice. TAKE IT EASY. By the way, chances are you haven’t done that much driving lately.
Plus keep a safe distance between you and other cars. Think of it as social distancing at 70 MPH.
